Quiet, desolate and open. A lovely stay if you have enough water.
This place may seem void of life. stop, look closer. ground squirrels are located above the runway of a target practice area. flowering cactus in the valley below. very interesting rock formations, pockets of quartz from milky to blue are all over.
wear good shoes, there is lots of broken glass left behind.
Shooters, please be aware that people camp in the area. stay aware of what's behind your targets, especially at night.
Jean Dry Lake Bed is a really fun place for shenanigans, camping, tomfoolery, and hood-rat stuff with friends. Not to mention the fact that it made it into Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The lake bed is well packed but does get dusty. Dirt bikers can enjoy long stretches of wide open dry lake, or play around in the accompanying mini-dunes and trails complete with whoops, jumps, and sand washes. Gambler 500 was here! ABG!
This event is like no other, it's called the Rise Festival and this happens for two days once a year in October. The lantern lighting festival is a unique experience that takes you through wonderful scenes of little balls of light that fly in the sky and looks like stars that move around so beautifully. Definitely worth the experience that's why we go once a year. It's become a family tradition.
Fantastic place to go and camp, picnic, offroad with dirt bikes, quads, jeeps and trucks. Great views during the day and great night time views. Nice because its so close to vegas and you can even bring cars here. Just be prepared to get super dusty!
