Conveniently located near downtown Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have a 24' Class C RV and stayed in spot 16 for one night. It was very tight with little room to spread out before crossing over into the neighbor's space. I think the staff should have put us in a bigger space. There was a much larger spot directly across from us that was vacant. Other than that, the campground seems like a great place for families with kids.

Great campground inside of Boone. Travel about 5-10 min out of the campground and you get some really good restaurants and a Walmart about the same distance. Campground is nice and clean and tent sites have more room than I expected them too

Campground seemed pretty near overall. Pretty tree, space for solitude. However the site I stayed in was pretty bad - B02. No spot for tent, slopes, two big holes on site, drop off off backside of site. Slept in car since there wasn’t a space for a tent. Looks decent on other sites, just not that one!

So disappointed. We were really looking forward to trying out Honey Bear to make it our yearly campground spot, but it was a huge disappointment. The place woods surrounding the campground is beautiful and it is located conveniently close to Boone, but the benefits stop there. If I could give customer service a 0, then I would. We paid for a full hookup sight and stayed for 5 nights. The hookups were sketchy to say the least, however we were looking to have a good time. Saturday rolls around and we wake up to no water. No phone call, text, stop by to let us know something was wrong. We overheard others saying their water was out, so we figured we would hear something about the water being out and an estimated time it would be repaired but we never heard anything. We had been filling our tanks rather than hooking directly to water, so we conserved the best we could, which was very difficult with a 6 month old baby with us. We had to do quick sink baths and ended up just leaving for the day because we didn't have other options. We came back around 6 in the evening and still no water or no information from the owners of the campground. The thing that frustrated us the most was the lack of communication. We attempted to call the office multiple times about it but no response. I finally emailed them and informed them that we hadn't had water all day (which they knew but never communicated) and that we paid for full hookups and would like a refund on the hookups for the day we were without water. In an hour we had an email back stating that they had shut the water off due to a water break and no refund would be offered. Had this been communicated we would have known to fill up our tanks or do something different, but no communication at all. Good customer service would have alerted their guests and likely offered something like a discount on the next stay or a little off of store purchase, but no these people do not care about their guests even enough to let them know what's going on. We should have known we would have issues when we called multiple times on the way here to talk to someone about our registration email going to spam and not sending it back in the required amount of time (which we had no clue we should have been on the lookout for the email because this was not clear either). We never talked to one person running the place the entire time we were there. Other campers complained to us about the lack of customer service as well, but they did have time to send a text about halloween events at the campground. Finally 12 hours after the water issue, we had water back and they finally sent out a text basically saying it still wasn't completely fixed and sorry. This was not sincere and it was much too late as well. We booked and arrived with hope for a great camping spot, but instead we got a run down campground that may have been nice two decades ago, a rikidy swing with mattresses taped to the tree beside it, collapsed bridges, run down buildings, and sketchy hookups. Looks like we will have to keep looking for our go to campground near Boone. Grandfather Mountain Campground has some great potential!
