Fun and Educational, this place is amazing. Highly recommend it as a place to visit if you are traveling by. Plan to be there at least 2 hours.
They actually give you a guided tour with lots of historical facts and full of knowledge! My 13 year old son was fascinated with the information and the staff was all so friendly. They are all dressed in character and even though him how to play the games children played in the Colonial times.
Definitely worth the time and money to go there.
Most enjoyable morning learning new historical facts. Staff was informative, pleasant & most helpful. My cousin is handicapped & they went out of their way to accommodate him as we toured the exhibits. Thank you to all.
A walk back into the 18th century . This area has so much history, and Fort Delaware brings that to life. I love that there are different activities on weekends over the summer! Perfect to bring the kids too! They also have a great gift shop with colonial reproduction pottery, games for the kids, books and even items made at the fort using 18 C craftsmanship.
Saw a great presentation on 18th century medicine from a reenactor/doctor. The museum is spectacular and all staff are wonderfully educated and informative. Great day.
Interesting recreation of a Colonial-Era stockade, originally built in the 1950s as a roadside attraction but now owned by Sullivan County and operated as a museum. Make sure you check its operating hours before you visit -- outside of the summer season they're limited. We visited on a day they were technically closed, but it was open for a school field trip and the docents were kind enough to let my wife and I walk around and give us the full presentation. Not a large site -- don't plan on spending much more than an hour or so here unless you use the nearby picnic shelter for lunch.
