We just finished some time with Discovery Ministries in a unique experimental training before heading to the mission field. DM is a personal, well-run group of people who have a wide variety of training opportunities built around experimental learning. You are tucked into the Ozarks were there is beauty around every corner.
We had a great time. Campground is very clean. Horseshoe pits with shoes. Very shaded with pine trees. Bathrooms were clean and showers were warm. Both electric and water at the camping sites. Nice hiking trail. 5min to Alley Springs and 5min to Emminence. They have activities like zipline if you are interested. Very friendly, Christian atmosphere.
I have stayed with my family several times at this campground and have always found the facilities to be clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a truly family-friendly experience in a peaceful environment operated by Christians, give this location a try. In addition, it is a great location to have a retreat with your church youth group, within close proximity to Jack's Fork and Current rivers for outings.
Two weeks of wonderful, challenging and fulfilling adventures! Discovery Ministries' Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and down to earth. Housing facility very comfortable, bathrooms always clean. Cooking crew very nice and the food heavenly! I will recommend this place to those who love adventure as well as wanting to grow in the love of Jesus! Thank you all for an unforgettable time!!!
Man, this crew is amazing. Got to go on a canoe backpacking trip with them recently. They are located in such a beautiful part of Missouri. The director took us to all the best places on the current river. They really know what theyre doing with using the outdoors for spiritual formation, team building, and growing. And they taught us cool stuff like like orienteering with a map and compass to find our way, and lots of other cool stuff.
I can't recommend them enough: take your family there, team there, men's outing, youth groups! They've got something for everyone and all kinds of guided outdoor activities. Thanks for an EPIC father/son trip!
