Some cows wanted to scratch themselves on our bike rack after we turned in, and several mule deer visited around dusk. The Aspen are a gorgeous setting, and the trail is great hiking. In the morning the mule deer were back, and the cows farther away. And great Milky Way views at night.
Narrow rough Rd to access. TH area is trashy beat up. No tables, no toilet, limited parking. Run down area.
Looked at other reviews and I thought the trailhead was very clean and a good spot for dry camping. I also saw no cows during my hike. The trail itself was a bit wet and muddy but fine in normal sneakers. Lots of beautiful aspens and I saw a marmot. There was a stream next to the lower part of the trail and two ponds on the way up, also a couple small snow patches. There seems to be a trail that goes around the lake but it was flooded out so I only made it to the top part.
