It's a very laid back, minimal amenities but is quiet and scenic. Taren always helpful. Vacationed there 3 summers in a row. Price is right.
We arrived to find that the cabin we rented was much, much smaller than we had anticipated. It was cramped and smelled of "old musty socks", The owner arrived the next day to say we should have a larger cabin and that she would be happy to put us in a much more comfortable rental, (one that would cost us $195.00 a week more.) The cabin we rented based on the 1 picture that Daisy Bay had posted online was very deceiving, It felt like we were staying in a closet. (Cabin #4) $645.00/week was way too much for that shoe box. My relatives stayed across the lake at another resort and were very pleased with the price they got ($200.00 per week less than we paid AND had a shower in their cabin.) We on the other hand had to walk to a so called "central sauna/shower" that had an odor so strong of SULFUR that it was impossible to stand in the shower and breathe. I had to hold my breath to wash my hair. VERY unhappy with my stay and would never stay there again... I highly recommend you avoid this place at any cost. The owner came to me and told me one day that she had gone through the fish gut bucket in the fish cleaning house and said that whoever had cleaned fish the night before had left a bunch of meat on the fish. What kind of person goes through the fish gut bucket and then tells a renter that it's deplorable that some vacationer left too much meat on a fish carcass? Online rental ad states that the cabin has "color TV".... that's true, (albeit a 13" diagonal) but it's NOT color cable/satellite TV... It is actually just a digital converter box that picks up whatever 3 stations still broadcast over the airwaves. All of this is partly the fault of my "NOT" reading between the lines and asking enough questions before renting. We cut our vacation short by 2 days and simply threw away those rental days due to our extreme discomfort. The BED was pathetic and leaned to the left and made it impossible to get a good nights sleep. In my opinion, anyone that returns there for a second time is a fool or a glutton for punishment. Do some research and find another resort for your stay at beautiful Lake Vermilion, MN.
My family have been coming up here for close to 20 years! I absolutely love this lake and Taren and Jim have always been gracious and generous resort owners. During our stay over the years there was always warm water, electricity, a clean cabin waiting for us when we arrive, a comfortable sauna on request, and one of the best locations on the lake! I've been coming up to this part of Minnesota and more specially this part of Lake Vermillion all my life and I look forward to it every year. Thanks to Taren and Jim for all their faithful years of service keeping this resort running and the grounds well kept!
