Beautiful hike!! Beautiful waterfall! Family friendly. Can't wait to go back!!
The first part of the trail to Tamawanas Falls, (second picture) has some road noise but as you follow Polallie Creek up there are numerous little falls along the way.(first picture) On the way back we walked through the old growth forest.
Starting the Tamanawas Falls hike from the Polallie Trailhead is an absolute win, especially this time of year. The beginning of the trail is very steep either way you do the loop, but it’s so worth to avoid the crowds and the simple out-and-back nature of the Sherwood trailhead. We went the lower creek route first (to the left at the first junction), which we liked; the hike back was simple and restful, through the trees with occasional glimpses of the Hood River Valley below. Great forest bathing, pretty trees, beautiful lichens, bubbling water... what more can you ask for?
