Let me start by saying this is a beautiful campground. It's well taken care of. The attention to detail is amazing. My problem accrued with Lory the owner. We arrived late and were meant by her husband. He was very sweet told us it would be 20 dollars a night and showed us to our site. He put us in a RV site but we were in a tent. The next morning Lory came over to inform us her husband gave us the wrong price, site, and she wasn't going to honor 20 a night. Mind you its only 25 a night. After arguing with my husband for 20 minutes she agreed to take 20 a night for 5 nights. She also complained about out set up which I didn't understand because I'm neat and organized. After apologizing it was dropped. I was going to let it all go but her attitude later was why I won't. They hollered at us for driving to fast. The speed limit through the park was 5 mph and my husband was doing 7. No one was there! We were in the pool one morning and she never said a thing, just walked by, but then got in the pool with others campers and talked up a storm. I felt very uncomfortable and felt like I was being watched. The bugs there were insane. I'm from the south and never had cockroaches in my campsite, but we encounter roaches and huge horse flies. I love camping but I was miserable there. The campground is in the middle of no where and I quickly understood why no one was there. We ending up leaving a day early and of course on the way out Lory waved her hands from the pool for us to show down. I'd never go back because of them. Its ashame because it's such a beautiful place.
This place isn't by a river or a lake but they do have a very clean swimming pool, a walking trail with little figures hidden in the wood, it's fun trying to find them all. Also provide small recroom / library/ laundry and shuffle board. Nice guilt place my grandchildren really liked it. The owners are very nice and intressing. Hot showers and clean restrooms.
We have been visiting Chipmunk Crossing since summer of 2015. For us it is a quiet getaway that is close to home. Peter and Lori are phenomenal hosts! The sites are mowed and well maintained with a small flowering pot on most giving them a personal "home" feel. There is a well maintained pool and small walking path into the woods that has a special characteristic feature arranged by Lori. The bathroom and shower area is very clean. A small library next to the laundry room stock with an array of books to carouse as your laundry finishes. The grounds sport a small catch and release fishing pond that I enjoy in the mornings stocked with bass and some lunker catfish. In the evening a relaxing opportunity to meet the other guests at the community fire pit. Peter and Lori have been very gracious hosts each time we visit.
Very nice, small park with friendly and involved owners. Peter and Lory are excellent hosts. Nicely kept grounds with a great pool - very welcome way to end a hot, humid summer day. No traffic noise, no planes, no trains - just a quiet, relaxing country setting off the beaten path. Very large library, and you're welcome to exchange books. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We stayed at Chipmunk Crossing for five days and 4 nights in June, 2013 and went to the West Plains Bluegrass Festival. We have never been in a better park. The owners, Peter and Lory are the kindest most considerate people you would ever want to meet. The park is EXTREMELY clean and shows that the owners care about the image of their park. First impressions mean a great deal and you get a wonderful first impression when you drive into the Park! The Park is very quiet at night and just as evening approaches, Peter lights a big beautiful fire where everyone gathers to talk, roast hot dogs and marshmallows. The Restrooms and Showers are very clean and so is the swimming pool. There is a huge library with plenty of books to read. The Laundry Room is on the honor system with regards to payment and very clean. They welcome pets with open arms. We had an extremely good time. WE WILL BE BACK!
