About Campground

Offers 8 RV spots, 2 camping spots, bath facilities, and laundry room. Just minutes from town. Located on a beautiful 3,000-acre lake.

Cheniere Lake (pronounced "Shenny“") is the largest lake in Ouachita Parish, which covers approximately 3,600 surface acres at pool stage, and was impounded in 1946. Cheniere Lake is operated by the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. The lake is located about 3 miles SW of West Monroe, Louisiana (Well Road Exit, then South). Cheniere is studded with tall Spanish moss laden Cypress trees and towering Tupelo Gum trees through which boat/canoe trails have been cut. Its many varieties of Louisiana wildlife include fish, birds, beaver, otter, nutria, turtles and alligators. Several spring fed streams flow into the lake and it is relatively free of unnatural pollutants. Cheniere Lake is known for its natural scenic beauty.

RV Park - There are 8 RV sites overlooking the lake with electricity, water and dump station. Handicap accessible. Fee is $34.08/night (check, or money order). Bathhouse is air-conditioned and handicap accessible. Washer and dryer also available.

It was too dang hot, but that's not something that can be worked on. The restroom was dirty (not the toilets). The walls had all kinds of nests and webs. I panicked just walking in there (arachnophobic). Glad to have a water faucet and to put my head under

Knock one star off for no paved trail to walk around for such a nice park. Other than that,it is pretty well maintained.

A couple of basic playgrounds. Picnic areas. Soccer and football practice fields. Public bathrooms. A lodge for special events. Camping. Decent park that is underused by the community. No admission fees.

Nov 2022 - the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they had drawn it down for construction. I really look forward to going back because it was really cool but stumps were everywhere so it makes it difficult to navigate without getting bumped around!
