The Camp Hale Pond is located on the south end of the Camp Hale National Historic Site which is a flat valley floor surrounded by mountain peaks. The Camp Hale Pond is stocked with trout by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the pier is Accessible. The headwaters of the Eale River, and numerous beaver ponds, also offer nearby trout fishing.
Off Interstate 70, take Exit 171 for Minturn and Hwy 24. Turn right and continue about 17 miles to Camp Hale, passing through Minturn. The Pond is on the left shortly after passing the main Camp Hale entrance marked by stone pillars.
Out of the way. Peaceful.
Remember the 10th Mountain Div.
Stopped at Twin Lakes on the way to Independence Pass. Worth the drive.
Nice little pond with tons of trout. Tried with salmon eggs had a ton of hits. Nothing stayed on the hook. I also tried a all gold panther martin and a atomic teaser and still nothing.
Such a beautiful & serene fishing spot! We had the whole area to ourselves!
