This was formerly a very small family campground that has recently been converted into an "overflow" group camp designed for smaller groups (less than 25) who are not able to reserve the Rock Creek Lake Group site. While not quite as scenic as the Rock Creek Group site, this location is well suited for large family and small organizational group gatherings.
From Mammoth Lakes go south on US 395 for approximately 13 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Forest Service Highway 12 (Rock Creek Road) for about six miles the campground is on the right. From Bishop go north on US 395 for about 30 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Forest Service Highway 12 (Rock Creek Road) for about six miles.
This place is badass it was under snow , but now it's probably Poppin
It's a great group campground with 5 sites and a private bathroom. You need to reserve a year in advance for the best times in summer.
Well when I went In May alot of the ground still had snow. Lake Mary was slushy still/ frozen. Only the guy with tubes were catching fish in upper twin .I didn't have any luck off the bank , but I had several promising spots.Oh well, next day I headed to Rock Creek more action there.
