This six unit campground is located five miles north of Frenchman Lake. This a family and equestrian campground. This is the only equestrian campground on the Beckwourth District. There is a horse corral across the road from the campground with a table and fire ring. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and food locker. A vault toilet is provided. There is a hand pump with potable water. No garbage service is provided.
From Reno, Nevada take Highway 395 north 42 miles to Doyle. From Doyle take County Road 331 six miles west to County Road 101. Proceed west one mile to campground.
If your going there with horses dont waste your time. Road getting there is good but campground is not layed out for anything other than a small bumper pull trailer. Corrals are nearly 200 yards away and put of view from sites, they are buit in a marshy area with lots of mosquitos. Not horse friendly. It appears the grounds were originally built for small campers, corrals came much later.
I have been going to this campground for 22+ years nice place to just get away
We showed up late and stayed for one night.
Beautiful spot. Meadow View is farther up the road. Because we were late we did not want to disturb the campers already at the campground so we stayed here.
