Beautiful campsite next to a lake good for kayaking. In late December we had the campsite all to ourselves. A family came to fish in the afternoon. We didn't see them catch any fish and we didn't either after a few casts. We saw river otters swimming in the lake.
Great place to go camping. Letts Lake receives quite a few visitors each year. The California DFW has planted rainbow trout the last few years but it seems that the planting isn't scheduled too far in advance. It can get really windy at night in the campground and the road out to Letts Lake can be covered with snow depending the time of the year. Lastly the road isn't paved for the last 7-8 miles.
Beautiful campground, great place to get off the grid and relax. Quiet lake for kayaking or paddle boarding and a popular fishing spot. Campsites are a little close together, but there are a few quieter spots on some of the further loops. No reservations, so get there early to get a better spot.
Lots of fire damage but still beautiful!! I love this lake. It's been more than 5 years and I sure did miss the serenity of this place
Welcome respite from the burned forest and heat. The afternoon through evening breeze was wonderful. None of the water taps were flowing...not surprised considering the season. 4x4 trails were great and I was the only one there. Definitely going back!
Went back 10/01 - water was on :)
