Bucks Campground at Trappers Lake has 10 sites. It sits very near the Wilderness boundary, close to the Trappers Lake Outlet parking area. An RV dump station is available within the Trappers Lake campground complex.
Boats are available for rental at Trappers Lake Lodge.
Meeker is the nearest place to purchase gasoline and supplies.
From Meeker, take Colorado Highway 13 east for 1 mile, then turn right on Rio Blanco County Road 8 and follow this for 39 miles to Trappers Lake Road #205. Turn south on Trappers Lake Road #205, and continue for 10 miles just past the Outlet Trailhead. Bucks Campground is on the left.
Was there 8/4-8/6 and it was absolutely beautiful! Local trails were still green which was unusual. Mosquitos and black flies were horrendous but not too big of a deal if you pre spray your gear with bug spray. Firewood available for $8 a bag if you stop by the camp host in the reserved campground. Bucks campground is first come first serve for availability. And in case you don’t already know, there is zero cellphone signal—not even the ability to call 911. All photos were taken from the campsite at Bucks. There were two very clean single stall restrooms—however no running water. There is some water available to put out fires, but I don’t recommend drinking it! There is a lodge about half a mile away where you can pay to take a shower. Everything is cash only, including fire wood. Definitely put directions into gps before you leave Meeker because you will have zero service. Dirt roads going to camp were very well maintained so don’t worry if you don’t have a truck, your car will be just fine.
