Directions

The recreation area lies between NM State Highways 170, 574, and 516 with multiple entry points on dirt roads.

From Farmington, take Piñon Hills Blvd. and turn north onto the main Glade Road, County Road 1980. Travel north 2 miles to the Glade entrance and the open OHV area. To access the trail system from Piñon Hills, turn north onto College Blvd., travel approximately 1.2 miles just beyond Piedra Vista High School and Lions Wilderness Park.

From Flora Vista, turn west onto County Road 3535 from highway 516. Follow the road until the pavement ends, take a left onto non-county maintained road 3536 and travel about 1.5 miles. Access to the Glade is also available from the north. Take NM 574 approximately 6.5 miles from La Plata Highway and turn south onto the main Glade road.

Open year-round.

The road may become impassible in bad weather. Portions of the Glade Run Recreation Area may be closed to the public for short periods during authorized competitions or events.

Beautiful scenic campground. Super clean with fire rings, picnic table and grill at each site. Use caution if following google maps. It took us down an old pipeline road and we had to be towed out.

Free, clean, flat spots with juniper trees between sites, pit toilets, picnic tables, shelters and fire pits at each site. We are lucky in America to have places like this where we can post up for a night or two and absorb the solitude and quiet

A must stop free first come first serve campground. Small, 9 areas in all to pull into. Great for tents and rvs, this area is gorgeously put together using quaint stone lined pathways to the one bathroom to service the area and 2 horseshoe areas located in the center of the grounds. There is a second bathroom within walking distance, but it is quite a distance in comparison to the centrally located one. Pulled in close to midnight with plenty of spots available, I woke up at 6 am with just one person here besides us! Great place for a family with smaller kids as it is well fenced in for each picnic area that comes with your spot. If you're headed for ute camping grounds and can't make it, this is your stop!

Most importantly, there is one handicap camping spot available for use, which is not often easy to find while camping. +10 points to Gryffindor.

Camp site was great, but directions to get there are wrong. About a minute before it says you’ll arrive, there’s a fork in the road, and you have to go right instead of left. After that, keep left at the next fork, continue past the first parking lot, and the campground is right there. I went in mid February, and although there was snow, the main access road was well packed down. Only downside to the site itself was highway noise most of the night (not too loud, but definitely noticeable).

This place has been incredible! ON THE WEEK DAYS! There are nine “private” sites that include gazebo, picnic table, fire pit, and the stove. Very clean pit toilets, toilet paper is included!

this campsite is free! Although, a permit is required - 14 day stay limit. You can find the permit on their website. Check it out on Google. I’ve noticed some campers have printed the permit and left it on the windshield, I personally emailed mine to the BLM office. Contact them for email information.

It’s been very quiet [monday - thuraday] beautiful, and welcoming. I do plan on staying the full two weeks.

On the weekends, it’s absolute torture! I would be long gone if I didn’t have a ton of work to do. By mid afternoon on Friday, at least 50 to 75 locals have plowed their way into the campsite. Endless dirt bikes and Razors consistently! ITS SO LOUD! No peace at all! It sucks.

If you are coming on the weekend, prepared to fight over a spot, and I have very little peace and quiet. Like zero peace and quiet. The dirt bikes did not stop until 3 AM Friday morning. And they are still going! Zero respect for anyone, dirt everywhere. It’s torture, to be honest. They leave trash places and the bathroom a mess.

It’s a totally different place on the weekend. And I dislike it very much.

I work remotely, and the Internet has been incredible! Full bars, 5G, T-Mobile.

The road in can be a bit tricky, I do recommend high clearance, although I have seen some low clearance vehicles enter over the last few days. Just take it slow, it’s definitely worth the drive! Also, check the weather before entering. The roads that lead you here are all dirt. I would not come if there is has been or will be rain during your stay.

Town is just a short drive and has it all- including all shopping, gas, vet, and showers you may need!

Please take all of your trash with you! This is a beautiful campsite, and it’s free! Please be respectful!
