There's plenty of nice ice cream places in the Roanoke valley, however this is the BEST of the BEST. Taste, menu, service, atmosphere: these are all excellent. Of course they have wonderful ice cream but I would also recommend trying a flavored soda or one of their daily desserts. They also make awesome grilled cheese sandwiches! Go alone or take your friends and family and you'll be wishing for a return soon!

If I lived in the area, I would probably be a frequent customer of Pop's. I was traveling through the area, and wanted something sweet after my lunch. I was glad I found Pop's and what a super cool area it is in. The inside is nostalgic. I decided to try the Blackberry Swirl Ice Cream. It was delicious and had an interesting tartness to it. I probably should have tried more items, but I had just eaten lunch so I didn't order as I normally would have. The service was great. A new employee was being trained and it was fun that I was their first customer. Parking wasn't an issue - I parked on the street in front of the shop. PS - sorry for the bad pics, I started eating my ice cream and the photos were an afterthought. Not my best food photos.

Hey there! I just had the most amazing experience at Pop's Ice Cream and Soda Bar in Salem, Virginia. This little gem is a must-visit if you're in the area!

First things first, the staff at Pop's is absolutely fantastic!

Now, for the star of the show – the ice cream! Oh boy, it was heavenly. Pop's offers a mouthwatering variety of flavors that will make your taste buds dance with joy. Whether you're a fan of classic vanilla, indulgent chocolate, or adventurous concoctions like Dragon’s Tooth or Coconut Fudge, they have something for everyone. The quality of the ice cream is top-notch, and the flavors are rich and creamy.

What surprised me the most was the affordability of the ice cream at Pop's. You'd expect such deliciousness to come at a steep price, but nope! The prices were incredibly reasonable, and I couldn't believe the value for money. It's rare to find a place that offers such high-quality ice cream at such wallet-friendly prices.

Pop's has definitely nailed the authentic diner vibe, complete with retro decor and comfy seating. It's the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy your ice cream, and soak in the nostalgic ambiance. It truly takes you back in time and adds to the overall charm of the experience.

Don't just take my word for it, though. Pop's has garnered rave reviews from other customers too. It's clear that Pop's has created a loyal fan base, and I'm proud to be a part of it now.

If you find yourself in Salem, Virginia, do yourself a favor and visit Pop's Ice Cream and Soda Bar. You'll be greeted by friendly faces, delectable ice cream at incredibly affordable prices, and be transported to a bygone era with the authentic diner atmosphere. Trust me, it's an experience you don't want to miss!

It isn't just a place to get ice cream. It's a nostalgic trip into the past. Time travel to 1960s. It's a feel-good experience that takes you back to times when life was simpler and it feels good as soon as you step inside. Watching the dessert masters prepare your delicious cold treats and other menu items is as therapeutic as a trip to grandma's. Share it with your family and go back often. You'll find no better wholesome experience for your tummy and soul within 100 miles of Roanoke !

My daughters & I were out in Roanoke. We decided we would stop for ice cream on our way back home. Pop’s was suggested to us by a employee of another place we were at. It did not disappoint. The ice cream was delicious, the shop was super cute & had a nice vibe. We were greeted as soon as we came in & all employees were super friendly. Prices were great for what we got as well. We’ll be returning in the future!
