Terry Badlands Wilderness Study Area is located three miles northwest of Terry, north of the Yellowstone River. Access to the Terry Badlands scenic overlook is by a westbound dirt road directly off Interstate 94
Located within walking distance of a memorial marker for Charles Eber Wright, a surveyor for Prairie county.
Cool overlook with beautiful views! Dirt road could use a little maintenance, but not too bad.
So worth the 15 minute diversion from Terry. Unexpected, striking badlands to the horizon.
Great views and a nice hike. Road was in good shape. You can see Terry, Cherry Creek, and of course the Yellowstone Breaks. Especially Lost Boy Creek.
If you're willing to navigate several miles of winding dirt road, the reward at the end is *well* worth it. It's like having Theodore Roosevelt National Park all to yourself. Seriously, how is this place not more popular? It's gorgeous!
There's a pair of outhouses hidden in the woods nearby if you need them, but it's BYO toilet paper. Head to the left down the ATV trail from the overlook to find them.
