We were led to believe that this campground was in Errol, Maine. It turned out to be 31 km outside of Errol, on a terrible bumpy road. Pulling a travel trailer made it worse. Although booked and pre-paid, we arrived to find our site taken by someone else. Unless you are an avid hunter, fisherman, or atv’er, this is not the family campground for you.
We LOVED it here. Although we only stayed the night we are planning on returning. It was quiet, which is important to us at night with a small child. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our air mattress actually popped and a seasonal gave us some duct tape to cover the hole since the office had already closed for the night, which was so nice of them. All the seasonal folks we talked with were so friendly. And the sites were clean. The bathrooms were clean. The lake was beautiful.
Edit to add: We’ve now been here a few times, staying at both the main campground and east shore and we have nothing but good things to say about the campground and people that work there. It’s our favorite spot to camp up there.
If your looking for a beautiful private, primitive, off grid paddle or boat-in site, they have you covered! We LOVED our 3 night stay on Beaver Island! Clean site, no other people around, outhouse, big picnic table, large stone fire pit. The general store was a 10-15 minute motor boat boat ride away, and had anything we had forgotten. Really nice owners!
