The gal in the office was very friendly and helpful she let me raid and old wood pile for some firewood. The campground and the sites were very well kept. We enjoyed our stay there.

We lucked into getting a spot here two weekends in October. This is actually an all seasonal campground but there are three spots available for occasional campers that might be visiting seasonal campers. Beautiful grounds with plenty of grass, right on the Mississippi River, and only 1.5 miles from downtown Prarie du Chien. Campground owners were very nice and helpful to us during our stay. We will be back here again if possible!

Great place! Decent prices. They do have tent sites and really really nice stone fire pits. Half the place is tiny homes and about 75% are permanent spots. They pay to keep their homes/campers there year round. It's right on the Mississippi. There's a boat launch, a really nice kids park with a sand volleyball court, and they have a community building. It's out on the edge of town with lots of wooded areas. The only bad thing, and it's pretty bad, is that a train track runs right along side of the campgrounds. Between it and the river. The sunsets on the river make up for it though...in my opinion.

Owners refuse to answer the phone or call back. Drove there to see about getting a spot, owners literally ignored us at the door, they were visibly inside. When someone finally answered the door he was very rude, basically said we are full get out. Signage is wholly insufficient, no website or official Facebook page... Our cat escaped our vehicle while knocking and owners did not care, further they then reported us searching for him to the police as trespassing. (Prairie du Chein Police Department are wonderful people by the way.) Owners still refuse to speak to us even after a week of searching the campground and adjacent areas. We tried calling to get a spot or talk to them several times this week - they completely ignored us. It says they are "always open" - not the case at all. This is not a campground at all but a gated trailer park. Three so called tent sites? Not sure where those are because I have been looking for my cat for a week and there are no tents or tent sites that we could see. Most of the people there are unfriendly and suspicious as well. The alleged "three" "tent" sites must qualify these people to be operating a "campground" under Wisconsin law, I cry foul. I say no campsites exist. They are a gated trailer park who does not welcome the public. We live and work at a campground in Minnesota and I am SHOCKED by the way we were consistently treated by these people. It's NOT even a campground. Steer clear!

Deanna and I love our getaway, the Big River Campgrounds! We have made many new friends at the campgrounds over the last four years. This is a beautiful camping area located next to the Pickerel Slough of the Mississippi River. The Big River Campgrounds is well kept and well managed. Deanna and I look forward to spending more and more time at our Big River retreat.
