I have fished with Alaska Legacy Lodge for the last two summers and I will say there isn’t a guide out there like Alan. Alan works hard to find the fish and get you your limits. The accommodations are new, clean and very tidy. It’s also close to town which makes it really convenient for food shopping or dining out.

Top notch. My 82 year old Dad and I have been staying at American Legacy and fishing with Alan Tappan every year for 6 years. Every year and every day are different, fun and exciting. Alan busts his butt to make sure you are on fish and enjoying yourself. After all these years, we have not had one day that was less than perfect. Thanks Alan. We will see you next year.

BEST GUIDE ON KENAI RIVER.

My dad and I first visited Alan and Alaska Legacy Lodge in 2015. We had such an amazing time we vowed to make it back again. 6 years later, in August 2021 we booked Alan for 4 Kenai River fishing days, 1 halibut trip, and 7 nights of lodging. Alan went above and beyond to put my father and I on the fish and make sure we got the most out of our time there. He will do everything in his power to give you the opportunity to catch limits on salmon, and make you a better fisherman. We caught all our limits and Alan was a resource for us instructing us how we could catch fish in the smaller creeks/ rivers on our own afterwards.

Our last day was particularly spectacular when he took us to go fishing for large Kenai rainbows. You couldn't have asked for a better day of fishing and the quality of trout would be hard to find anywhere else in the world. Alan is all pro and Alaska Legacy Lodge is the best fishing experience you could ask for. Needless to say, we will be back again.

I’ve brought my friends to several different guides since moving to Alaska, and Alan is hands down the best…not even close. A few highlights:

He has over 30 years of experience fishing the Kenai, and it shows. We woke up early to claim a great spot, and everyone in our group maxxed out reds before lunchtime. He had an incredible attention to detail and really helped us catch fish whereas other guides nearby were much lazier and pretty much sat back.

He lent us SO MUCH equipment and gear to use on our free time. When my Uncle and I wanted to try our luck fishing for trout, Alan let us use his waders, lures, rods, etc. and gave us a detailed demo on what to do. He had no obligation to help us out like that, but he really went above and beyond.

Finally, his lodge is clean, stocked with cooking equipment for our fresh catch, and located right next to the Kenai’s best fishing spots.

All in all, I was extremely impressed with Alan and Alaska Legacy. I would

recommend him to absolutely anyone.

Also he’s a great photographer! Attached some photos below:
