A.D. Barnes Park is a 65-acre park nestled in the heart of one of Miami's busiest areas. The park is dedicated to and named after the first Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, who strongly believed recreation was important to the lives of every citizen in Miami-Dade County. Since its opening in 1977, the park has integrated activities that serve people with disabilities into its programming.
The Leisure Access Camp is fully accessible for persons with disabilities and is available to rent to all. The camp is surrounded by ten acres of pineland and tropical hardwoods. It features two cottages equipped with showers, a lodge, and a dining hall with full kitchen. This campground is available only to groups and/or organizations, no family camping is allowed.
The cabins include 10 (twin) beds per cabin (occupancy load is 20), you can bring additional cots/sleeping bags or roll away beds. There are two fully accessible restrooms with showers in each cabin. There are Ceiling fans as well as central A/C-Heat.
The Lodge / Kitchen area seats 64 with tables and 90 without tables and may be reserved for meetings or social functions. Special activities for persons with disabilities are offered at the camp, and the complex may be reserved for special programs.

AD Barnes has such a lush landscape with so much to do. They have a section for covid testing being done by nomi and they have NO LINE. The park has a nice eco trail with a small water fall, a diverse botanical mix where plants are cohabitating and growing within one another.
They have a fire pit that is available for reservations and a permit from the park and a nice structure to see above the park. We saw many families walking around and it seemed that lots of single dads were with their kids.People were out playing basketball and the park is very central bird road near the palmetto.
Additional to the plant life, the animal life is extremely visible. Tons of bugs, fish, turtles, butterflies, and unfortunately even cats.
Note if you are looking to adopt a cat on the street they have a few there just roaming around.
It was nice to see where the original Ludlam train used to ride by.
Highly recommended for a great day out.
Amazing park in central Miami. This park makes you feel like you are in another place yet it's located in a busy Miami area. It has awesome nature walking trails and bird sightings. Nice place to exercise with their new outdoor gym. Great place to get away. This park has great picnic areas next to beautiful lakes. It also has a playground, community pool, basketball courts, and soccer fields.
A good place for family picnic, and afternoon and morning walk. The park has a walking path around a big lake, and facility to do some exercise. There are couple of nicely maintained areas. Kids can play in the playground. Overall, this a well maintained family-friendly park to spend quality times.
Very quite, not a lot of people and it has a great little park and a lake. It also has a pool. Very nice place to bring the kids.
Beautiful park but not well maintained as unfortunately many parks in Miami.
Not clean, lots pf staff hanging around doing nothing or on the phone.
Pic of the lake full of garbage.
