Solo travelers be aware. Not recommended for solo travelers. When I arrived the campground wasn't full. but I was still placed at the last site towards the exit (#90) and also the furthest spot from the restroom and showers. I asked for something closer but he said there wasn't anything, I'm not sure why he could switch me to one of the other sites on which there was no one. I decided it would be a good idea, as a deterrent and for a sense of security as a solo campaer, to use a small padlock on my tent for at night (while sleeping) and for times when I would be going off the campground. I kept the small lock hanging on the zipper at all times. Went out the second day to get a few more things came back and after relaxing for a bit, I went to use the restroom, when I came back I noticed the lock was missing and started looking under and around the front of the tent as well as inside thinnking maybe it got knocked off somehow. It was nowhere, and so I kept searching, in my car around the car near the road where I would have walked to restroom, nothing. I was concerned because it made no sense why it would be anyhwere but right at the entrance of the tent if it were knocked off. While I continued searching increasingly more concerned about what happened, a man on a bike road by, then road back by the wrong direction on the road and then looped through another nearby campsite (which in the rules says you aren't supposed to do)- this was on my 2nd time searching everywhere, and I had seen no sign of my lock. Then after the man rode back out (I already thought this strange) I looked again around the car and near the road. My lock was on the opposite side of the car, furthest from my tent and near the road. I picked it up and went straight to the office to inform them of what happened and of my concern. It was not taken seriously and the manager also laughed - completely unprofessional and insensitive. This further made me feel uneasy about staying here. I had booked a week and this was only the 2nd day. I went back to my site to consider if I could be comfortable enough to stay here when I felt there was something not right about what happened, felt more at risk, and the response about it by the manager was very unnerving. I decided it was not a good idea to stay and take any risk of something else happening. I informed the office that I didn't feel safe and is there any way they could refund any portion of the week that I wouldn't be able to stay because of this concern about safety and the event with the lock. Again more laughter, insensitivity, and unprofessional response. He said "no". This is not a situation that should have been laughed and I feel there should have been an exception to the policy if someone feels unsafe when a situation has occured to create this. I don't know if someone wanted to. mess with a solo traveler or if this could have been a very real threat to property or person (me), but I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN! AND I would advise SOLO TRAVELERS ESPECIALLY ---STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! Locks on tents and luggage etc, are all just detterents but they are something that people do utilize as a detterent and this was a good example why- I will also mention my name was engraved on this lock and if it hadn't been I don't think I would've seen it again, had I pursued this as a theft the person would not want to have been found with this particular lock. ALSO - there is another review about a theft involving this campsite and the police coming in, not sure the full story on that, but. my situation ended without a good camping experience and it ended abruptly with the loss of a full paid week. There should have been some kind of refund for part of this week due to safety concerns.
Owner's response -not accurate. Not told there would be extra patrols and I was never informed there was any patrolling. Laughing never should've happened, the response was insensitive and unprofessional, there was no sincere apology. Making an exception to a policy when someone feels their safety is at risk should be ownership 101.
