Campsite: Breaks Interstate Park
4.5 Stars here
The park was clean, but in need of some necessary repairs. Some lots had water runoff issues and some overlooks were missing handrails.
Our camping experience was peaceful and quiet. It definitely didn't seem like peak summertime. At one point, we were the only camper in Campground C.
We hiked most of the trails during our stay. 13.36 miles over 3 different days. The trails were in good condition with a little trash and broken glass in places. Hiking boots and walking sticks are definitely recommended.
Prospectors Trail was our favorite.

Campsite: Douthat State Park
5 STARS X TWO = EXCELLENT STATE PARK!
Douthat State Park is clean, user-friendly, peaceful, and beautiful! The trails are well marked and inviting. While we didn't fish the lake, other folks were pulling stringers up filled with trout and other types of fish. The lakefront has easy access, and the kids and / or the dogs can wade at the edge without standing in the weeds.
Douthat is by far our favorite Virginia State Park yet, and we can hardly wait to go back and explore more.

We had the most wonderful visit here! Katie, Jen and all the crew, aka, the farm animals were friendly, engaging and fun to meet!
