Looks like a fish heading toward the trail. There is a backcountry camp ground at the coast.

This is a trail of 21 km (13 mile) go-and-back to Hannegan Peak by a total elevation gain of 1,570 m (5,150 ft). Hiking in Ruth Creek Valley and up to the summit of Hannegan Peak is quite rewarding for hikers, for it provides with gorgeous panoramic alpine views.
