Campsite: Hot Springs Campground
We went after Labor Day weekend and this place was empty. It was like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed on the river at Site E4 and it was perfect. The river was running hot from all the rain, but there is a little beach area downriver that was perfect view of the AT across the river and upstream as the sun was coming over the ridge. Even with some rain, we built a huge fire and enjoyed our time at this campsite. It probably gets really crowded in the summertime, so I recommend going in the off-season for the peace and quiet.
Campsite: Son’s Guadalupe
Went here with the family and enjoyed our hot summer day in the gazebo with food and booze. Took our tubes out there and the kids enjoyed the river. It was shallow in enough places to walk up or down stream. It was easy to get my handicapped brother into the gazebo and down to the river to enjoy a soak. So relaxing, he ended up taking a nap! Easy check in, did not feel crowded with others, and perfect place to beat the TX heat.
