I guess I was unbelievably lucky, but the weekend that I went up there I was the only one in the campground! The sheriff's deputies, who patrol their regularly, which is nice, stated that they had never seen that before. The campground is wonderful, it reminded me very much of Big Bear (Holcomb Valley area). The road in is dirt and in fair condition. I was able to pull my pop-up trailer up to the campground, but there are a couple spots that, if they get any rougher, will probably be best negotiated with a high clearance/4wd. For those of you interested in the amenities, the restrooms are the vault toilets, but they were unbelievably clean without odor! The campsites were extremely large and there are 12 of them. Each one had a very nice picnic table and fire ring. There is no water, so you definitely need to bring enough for your stay. For those of you who are going up for off-roading, the yellow jacket trail is very close by and there are multiple other Jeep trails and roads for utvs and ATVs. There is no direct fee for staying at the campground, but you do need the adventure pass.
