Beautiful site with rolling hills covered in wildflowers with canoe rental and access point. If you stay, you can rent one of about 10 canoes for $1/ hr or $8/ day. Access point is muddy and filled with Mosquitoes-- bring a net and spray!
Walk-up campsites are .1, .2, or .3 miles from the parking lot. They are off of the "Freeze out Trail", and you have to cross a rickety old bridge to get there. (More magical than scary. Amazing views of the stars at night). Be warned though-- these sites have a LOT of ANGRY MOSQUITOES that will SWARM YOU. A net and spay are 100% necessary if you are susceptible to mosquito bites. Wheelbarrows are provided to help you carry stuff to your site.
Group sites lack privacy but have great views. There are a few outhouses sprinkled throughout the site but no running water/ showers/ hand sanitizer. Completely off-grid.
The whole park has a carry-in, carry-out policy, meaning there are no receptacles for trash in the entire park. You may NOT bring in outside wood, but the ranger there sells bundles for $3 each.
If you are yearning for human contact after being in the wilderness for so long, there is a cute family-run camp shop/ restaurant/ ice cream shop up the road just before entering the park. They also sell gas and have their own camp sites as well.
