A place of quiet. The occasional car or truck over the PN bridge and the very occasional motor boat on the river is all you may hear except the wind, the birds and the bugs. Admittedly there were no river travelers in groups while I was there to liven up the campground. Slight adventure driving the 25 miles from and to Winfred by gravel road on my big Adventure bike, No sweat I did not go north on the road, a much longer trip to pavement to US Rt 2. It can be hot, near 100 degree days not uncommon in high summer and not much shade but some cottonwoods. Be careful putting a tent under those as you never know when they might drop huge limbs. Hope some more get planted someday. No fresh water available so bring your own. Across the river to the South is the PN Ranch which was just bought up by American Prairie Reserve which will eventually be open to the public and make this place
more a destination. Right now it is nowhere. That's the beauty of it.
In summer of 17 there was wifi internet around the boat landing Visitor center a quarter mile from the campground.
Private landowner gives BLM permission to open and manage the campground May through October.
