Campsite: Coastal Acres Campground

We had reservations for 9/11 through 9/17 of this year. Due to travel, we checked in on 9/12 instead and were immediately blown away by how wonderful this campground is. Every member of the staff we interacted with was incredibly helpful and friendly. Our stay was cut short by the weather; a predicted hurricane prompted Coastal Acres to shut down tent and small trailer camping for the weekend. It was unfortunate, but we received our refund check for the nights we didn't stay very quickly.

My wife an I were tent camping, our site felt very private as it was hemmed in on three sides by trees; being so close to Shank Painter Pond means you could hear the birds and the bugs, which we love! Although it also means there were plenty of mosquitos, so bring your bug spray!

The camp site had power AND a deep sink! How awesome is that? No trudging around, looking for a spigot to fill up your water bottle. And there was even wifi!

While there are no installed firepits, we brought our own. Even with a 12x12 tent, a firepit, and the picnic table, the campsite felt roomy.

The little store in the office sells just about anything you would need during your stay, and you can get your quarters to take a shower there.

Speaking of showers; the bathrooms were incredibly clean, the water pressure and availability of hot water was fantastic. It's $0.25 for 5 minutes--I put $0.50 in just so I wouldn't have to think about it, and took a great shower. Let's talk stalls: Everyone hates the little gap in the stall door where people can see a sliver of you. Coastal Acres' wooden stalls have additional pieces of wood backing the door, so it's actually a solid door, no gaps!

The campground was very quiet, and it's such a short walk to town. I cannot recommend staying here enough!
