Campsite: Mountain Fork Park

Beautiful scenery. We went Easter weekend and we were the only campers. The river was exceptionally high do to high lake levels and dam release. Fishing for trout was out. Walleye were the only fish I witnessed being caught. During the day the fishing traffic picked up. The friendly people were mostly out of towners, with the exception of the preacher whom ran the campground. He was very helpful. When asked if our belongings were safe, he said that everyone visiting are very good folks...unless they're local. *Gulps* This is SE Oklahoma.

Fast forward to 4:30am Easter Sunday:

I am abruptly awoken by raspy yelling. It's pitch black outside (with the exception of one light pole) and it's raining steadily, but I can see a large dark figure walking from camp to camp! Ohmygosh... BIGFOOT! No, just a lone meth user talking gibberish with cackling laughter and bursts of cussing that are still censored on cable TV. This went on until dawn. The sheriff's department caught her a mile down the road. The deputy that came out warned us of Eagletown and pointed south. He said "that's where the murderers are." *Double Gulp* The address for the park says "Eagletown". I feel lucky to be alive! Or at least relatively unscathed. By the way, there is no cell service. You need to drive a mile away to call 911.

The bathhouse is boarded, but there were two porta-potties that were well maintained, but they're porta-potties. :/

Also, the locals not on meth don't grasp giving a camper their space. One came right up to our camp to fish...at 5am!

People aside, mountain fork is beautiful.
