Campsite: Jackman Park Campground

We are traveling cross country (east coast to west coast and back) by car while backpacking and camping. During the pandemic we are looking for non crowded places to camp and this was absolutely perfect. Out of 10 campsites we have stayed in, this one was by far the best. The temperature dropped to the 40s at night (during mid August) but we were prepared so it wasn’t an issue.

There was an old fashioned well with potable water, trash cans, the cleanest vault toilet I’ve seen yet (and least smelly), and only 6 campsites that are spread far apart so that there is privacy.

Each campsite is nestled in a grove of Aspen trees, has space for vehicles, tents, a fire ring (though not allowed at the moment because of wildfires) and a picnic table. It was super clean and the road wasn’t paved yet still well maintained (and if you go the long way by accident you see beautiful mountain scenery (though the road goes right to the edge of cliffs) wildflowers and lots of wild horses). I would stay here longer and will always recommend. It’s only $6 and only one other person was camped there. My only gripe is a mouse got in our car during the night, to no fault of the campsite.
