Campsite: Julian Price Park Campground — Blue Ridge Parkway

This is a nice campground located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The location is great. It has tall trees, right in the woods, but there is not much privacy as the sites are very close together. The parking spots at the sites are paved but very short. There are concrete picnic tables and fire pits, potable water, bathrooms with flush toilets, and 1 bathhouse. The bathhouse is great as they are stand-alone units with toilet, sink, heaters, showers all in one room, with a locking door so you can do everything at once, then leave. The issue is not enough of these shower/bathroom rooms for the number of sites at the campground. I would recommend based on location, but not for amount of amenities.

Campsite: Stony Fork Campground

Came for 1 night, came back for a week+. Great Campground with flush toilets and hot showers (4 bathhouses), located just inside Jefferson National Forest. $20 for a no service site, and they have 1 service for $26, 2 services for $30. The site had a large picnic table and a fire ring with a grill. Driveways are paved into the sites, and it's easy to walk around the loop, also has a small stream running through the grounds. Came in late October when the leaves were peaking, absolutely beautiful. There is even a path through the forest, 1 mile, leading out from the campground. There are deer, raccoons, plenty of types of birds, squirrels, rabbits, and best of all.... no bears. They've only had 1 bear in 3 years. The hosts are super friendly and do a fantastic job keeping everything clean and running smoothly. My car battery died and they even helped me Jumpstart it. Kim and Joe are fantastic! Will definitely be back if I am in the area next year.
