Campsite: North Eden Campground — Bear Lake State Park

Came here on a Sunday morning and we were the only ones here. Yes, there is construction, happening but NO ONE was there. If you want to avoid big crowds and sharing space with other people, this is the worth the extra drive. It’s on the border of Idaho and Utah, on the Utah side. I stayed for about 4 hours at the end around 3 PM there were 2 other groups but plenty of space cause we were all spread out. Dog friendly. Toddler friendly. It is a short walk to the beach from the parking lot and rocky so might need sandals to get there. There are shaded picnic tables and non shaded picnic tables right on the water.

Campsite: Pine Lake Campground

We were lucky one weekend and barely anybody was at the campground. Lots of fun streams/creeks for kids to play in. 5 year old enjoyed frog hunting. They like to hang out at the banks of the lake and then jump in. Easy to miss if you don’t look closely. They also hang out under the bridge. We went mid August and the weather was perfect. Some sprinkling. Not super hot. Campsites are spacious. Great in comparison to the northern campsites that are sooooo crowded. Beautiful wildflowers and herb like smells around the lake to explore and enjoy. Fishing is a bit difficult in the shallow areas because of all the grass. Could be difficult from shore. Good fishing in the deeper area with a kayak. We trolled around with a lure and that’s how we got our fish. My 5 year old caught his biggest fish! The fire pits at the campsite are nice. The camp host was a bit of a stickler but that’s ok.
