We spent 2 days camping here with our 20ft. camper. It was very nice and reasonably priced. We brought some kayaks, and as this is a no wake lake, my family was able to really enjoy the time on the water. We had a big site right on the lake with electricity. There are no water hook ups (there was a community spigot) and on our side there were only outhouse type restrooms. The main camping area was larger and did have restrooms with showers that are coin operated. As we were only there for a couple of days we did not use them, but I did look inside and they looked nice. The fire pits were okay, but had been dugout a little deep so it made the fire sit in a hole in the ground almost below the grate.
The lake scenery is nice as it is a reservoir tucked into the hills, and there are some nice mature trees surrounding it. As much of the lake shore is state park there is not much development giving it more of an wilderness feel.
There are a couple of boat ramps on either side of the lake, and there are nice docks going out on several sides of the lake where you can put kayaks in the water.
The swim beach is large, but full of weeds, and because of the birds, we heard there were chiggers (swimmers itch), so my daughter went in briefly, but did not stay in long.
There is a small and older playground near the larger campground that can be used for day use people as well. There are a couple of shelters for picnics as well.
We did not fish, but we did see a number of people fishing, and there are a number of nice manmade peninsulas out into the lake along with the docks where you could fish from shore.
So we camped in one of the forest service sites up West Ten Sleep Creek and on the way out we were looking for any kind of dump station so that we did not have to carry the extra weight in our tanks. Lo and behold someone else had already thought of this for us and put the dump station in the perfect place! It was an easy pull through with several lanes. It worked perfect for our needs.
Not the nicest campground we have stayed at. The sites were big enough but as it is in the river valley in a wet year it had just opened up from being flooded, so they were not well mowed. There was still a flooded walk way to the outhouses, which were ok, but still very rudimentary.
Also while the location is out of the main forested area of the mountains (don't expect pine forests), it still could have had some nice views, but there were no good places to observe just sit and observe the river.
We choose this location because it was the closest site with available spots near Yellowstone.
Now we are well set up for dry camping so it really worked ok for us. I actually used some equipment to wack back the grass and weeds to open up the site.
Also if you do stay here you can get water at the larger campground just to the west. The spigot is right near the entrance to that campground. Also if you want a nice place to walk along the river go out of the campground to the field just to the west.
We were told to be wary of bears and there are bear boxes, but in the time we were there we did not see any evidence bears had been there. No dropping or tree rubbings. I suspect it is probably on the edge of bear territory.
