Very nice, remote, and rustic campground. Easy access to hiking trails. The camping sites are well spaced. Most tent sites have a dirt/grass area away from gravel to set up. I was there in July and it was buggy. To be expected. Not much air circulation and it felt stagnant.
This is not quite up to the quality of most National Park Campgrounds yet. I appreciate the primitive sites, and this one has much to value, such as access to a wide and slow moving New River. The sites are fine, and the new pit toilets are clean. The site is remote, and without a campground host, I wasn’t completely sure about safety / security. And there is a train across the river that passes through regularly, no horn but lots of rumbling. It woke me several times in the evenings.
