Campsite: COE Dale Hollow Lake Obey River Campground

Do not stay here. Especially if you are younger with no kids or just young in general.

My friends and I booked this campsite for Labor Day weekend. My friends showed up alittle earlier than we did. They had beer in the bed of the truck, not knowing it wasn’t allowed. Nothing on the website says anything about the “rules”. Jeff (the park attendant) yelled at them and said they will go to federal prison for 15 years with alcohol on these grounds.

I had showed up past dark due to coming from 5 plus hours away, we were met by the gate attendant (Jeff) who was yelling that we booked a tent site but had a camper. The site said nothing about a tent online.

We had a generator but it’s against the rules “no excessive noise”. Jeff rudely said “good thing it’s not too hot”

I called the number online which was his wife Lisa, she was very rude. I wanted to ask questions about these “rules”. She said she would bring me the book of 200 plus rules that are not online.

We went ahead and set up camp the next morning after they made us sleep in the parking lot of the campground so we “wouldn’t wake any campers”.

The next day we go out on a boat, we get 2 phone calls that our dogs were barking (they were in crates outside due to not having electric)

Lisa told us rudely that was also against the “rules”.

Our trash was also torn apart and ripped down from the hook. In the middle of the day.

Seemed like someone had been rummaging through it.

Later that evening we are sitting at the campsite while Lisa drive by on her golfcart, one of our dogs barked (which is what dogs do). She slammed the breaks and told us it’s against the “rules” for dogs to be “aggressive”… he only barked.

My friends had left the grounds and came back, when we pulled up to the gate house Lisa made a comment of “you guys will know the rules by the back of your hand”

We packed up and left.

They had targeted us since we drove in, due to not knowing all of these “rules” that were only in writing at the gatehouse.

I’ve never been more disrespected, threatened and embarrassed.

We found a different site at a different campground in the middle of our stay at the obey river campground.

I will NEVER be back.

If you want to have a horrible time and have people be rude to you and harass you the whole time, this is the place for you.
