Campsite: Leesville Lake Campground, LLC

We had a great time over the weekend. We were tent camping in a 20 person tent. Which is similar to a base camp tent. This place is mainly an RV Park which is ok. They only allow 2 sites to have tents in the campground. The rest are RV's. They have two regular home style bathrooms with full shower/tubs in them that are dedicated to your campsite if camping in a tent. They also have a pool that you can sign up for to use for one hour for your family and only your family each day. There are no trails here to hike. They have a small playground geared for smaller children. On Saturday evening's, Jeff, which by the way, is an awesomely talented musician, plays mutiple instruments in his vey own Covid19 Concert. We throughly enjoyed his wide variation of songs that he played on multiple instruments. All of their sites are gravel with picnic tables and a fire ring. If you are cooking using the fire ring you need to bring your own cook grate for over the fire. All sites have electric, water and black water hook up. The only down side was that fishing. You need to ride in your vehicle to the near by Leesville Lake. Because of COVID-19, the parking lot to access the fishing pier was gated. So you had to park in the grass, walk the whole parking lot then down this steep hill to access the fishing dock. The walk back up the steep hill was a lot especially in the heat. Then you have to walk the entire parking lot, then around the gate to get to your vehicle. Leesville Lake Campground does not own the lake or it's access for the fishing pier or boat ramp. The lake itself is beautiful. When we went this weekend it had rained severely the day and night before our arrival on Friday. So the lake was way above normal levels and there was a ton of wood and debris floating all over the lake. The boat ramp was so covered in logs and debris, if we had our boat we wouldn't feel comfortable in putting our boat in the water there. The dock at the boat ramp was 90 percent underwater. This lake is owned by the power company. The boat ramp and fishing pier are very close to the dam. There are also picnic tables and a huge picnic shelter with picnic tables down on the edge of the water near the fishing pier. There is a gas station that has ice and other things close to the campground. There is a Food Lion within 15 minutes, a Walmart within 20 minutes and Lynchburg within 30 minutes of the campground. You can also buy firewood at the campground for 5 dollars for a half of tractor front end bucket full. Tracy and Jeff that own and run this campground are very nice people. They keep the grounds, sites and office very well maintained and clean. They are also on site 24 hours a day. If you need anything or need help with anything they a very willing, able, polite, understanding, and have great hospitality to do so. We will be back to camp again.
