Great for a one night spot on our trip. Vault toilets no water but easy close to highway
Palmetto trail is close as well for an easy hike/walk. I suggest starting on the trail on the opposite side of the campground as the trees were bigger and trail much nicer
Big army core of engineers with many small campgrounds around the lake. Enjoyed our site 67 some others closer to lake. Bathroom flush but basic. Close to state park but cheaper. Nice camp host.
We so enjoyed this campground and hiking. We hiked over to fort Davis which was a diverse trail up the down. We also hiked the quail trail side. Highlight of the park are the two birding blinds and the visitor center as well as the programs.
Warm showers too! Also great CCC buildings
Definitely do the guided hike that the park organizes to see the rock art. We only did the 2 hr one but well worth it. We also did the friends 4 hr tour and it was great as well more historical focused. Both get you in the canyon for a reasonable amount of cash. Campground was great as well. Very windy. Showers warm. Also hiked out to rio grande along the top of canyon which was great as well.
