Campsite: Wildwood Campground

This campground was fine, maybe worth going to if everything else is full, but not exactly thrilling. There’s a pit toilet and no potable water, which is okay if you filter from the small stream nearby or bring water in. The sites are a reasonable distance from each other, but further would be nice, especially considering how isolated the campground is, and the gravel road you take to get there. The road’s also pretty bad in spots, so be careful if you do go.

Campsite: Red Mountain Campground

My friend and I stayed here in the last site, and it was wonderfully secluded from the rest of the campground, as the adjacent site was empty. Getting to the bathroom was a bit of a trek, but our site also had easy access to the lake via a small trail, and a nice amount of cover. It’s pretty close to the road, so you do get some car noise from time to time, but I didn’t find it too bad. The entrance is extremely easy to miss, though; I ended up in the day use area at first, wondering what I’d missed. There’s a sign on the main road, but it’s on the left, while the little road leading to the campground is on the right.

Campsite: Owhi Campground

The view of the lake, not to mention the easy lake access here, is wonderful! You have to walk everything down to your campsite from your car, and there’s a small hill, so you’ll definitely get your exercise if you’re packing everything back up as suggested because it’s bear country, but it’s so worth the effort! There are way more campsites than I’d have initially guessed, and some are really nicely tucked away, while others are more open and nearer the water. I seriously couldn’t get over how beautiful this campground was the entire time we were there. The road in is pretty rough for about a quarter mile, but still doable with most cars, I think. This was an awesome experience!

Campsite: Wish Poosh Campground

Wish Poosh is a lovely campground close to town; I even had cell service at least some of the time. The regular bathrooms are closed, but the porta potties are well-maintained. There are a couple of warnings about bears being seen in the campground, and a couple are even stapled to the tables in certain sites, but all we saw were deer. There are a few faucets here and there, but they were covered with black plastic bags most of the time, so I don’t think they’re functional. The camp host was lovely, he came to find us when we accidentally overpaid, since we thought the extra vehicle fee would apply to the second car at a site, and gave us back the surplus. The campground’s pleasantly treed, with no obvious lane access unless you go down to the boat launch area, and the sites weren’t too close together. There’s also an area on the way down to the boat launch where you can borrow a life vest, which is lovely!
