We went here on a Saturday mid morning in August and it was not busy at all. You can stand up paddle board, kayak and canoe here but there is no swimming allowed.
There is currently construction on the dam that you can hear all around the lake. We were told that the dam project will take 5 years.
The park is free! They also have a shuttle that takes your paddle boards and kayaks down to the water for you which is great because there is a decent walk down to the water. There’s a short hike along the water that was really enjoyable.
This is a free first come first serve campground in the National Park. We got there at 7pm on a Thursday night in June and it still had 3 of the 5 campsites available. Great views from the campsite. It did take quite a while to get out there - most of the road is a very bumpy dirt road. So only drive out there if you’re comfortable with that. There’s a toilet out there as well as each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table.
