The camp site was as expected. Based on just the camp site, I would return, however we also scheduled a rafting trip that was horrible.
For the rafting trip, I arrived to the camp store to check in 45 minutes early. The line was very long and disorganized. I got to the front of the line after about 40 minutes, only to be told that I had to bring out waivers to my entire group for everyone to sign, then wait on line again. There were no signs saying that I needed waivers before heading on the line, or I would have done that first, rather than having to wait on the same line twice. They should have been handing out waivers to people in line to fill out before they got to the front. This happened to group after group after group and none of the workers thought to start telling people to fill out waivers before getting to the front. It should not have taken that long to check in, given we pre-paid.
After finally getting checked in, we walked to the launch point, where I handed a young man my check in sheet. This is when an older man came over, pointed at 4 members of our group (two women) and said, "Since you guys are bigger, you need to use the red life jackets." This was completely unacceptable, and could have been handled a different way, rather than being pointed out for being larger. He could have easily said "Blue life jackets are small/medium and red are large/XL." People know what size they are. There is no reason to point out individual people in front of others for their size.
After the gentleman did that, we were told to go get paddles and head down to get a raft. When we headed down to the raft, we were told that we needed a safety brief. We went back up to get a safety brief. We went back down to the raft and were told they never got our paper that we handed in when we first got there. We were sent up and down THREE times due to their disorganization. As we were waiting for them to figure out where our check in sheet went. we could hear the workers talking smack about our group and "just wanting to get rid of us". It is not our fault there was no organization or clear instruction on what to do. More than half of our group works in retail and customer service and were being very respectful to the workers. It was completely uncalled for for them to treat us like we were the problem. Eventually, two workers apologized and helped us get into the raft and into the water. The icing on the cake was after we were already in the water floating down the river, a worker yelled to us and asked if we handed them our paper, which we already went through three times and it was their own workers that helped us into the water. GET ORGANIZED. What was once our favorite part of our annual camping trip had an awful start, with some members of our group in tears for being individually called out for their body. We wound up leaving the camp ground a day early and are likely not going to return next year.
