What a wonderful campground Plumtree is! Nestled at the foot of a small mountain at 3000ft, it was the perfect retreat for me this past summer. The setting is serene and naturally beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and an abundance of wildlife like birds, bees, chipmunks, and occasional deer. The nights here are a marvel, so dark that the Milky Way becomes a faint, glittering tapestry overhead.
I enjoyed exploring the local trails, which meander around the mountain and lead to a stunning waterfall - a walk that's definitely worth the effort. The area is also home to apple trees and blueberry bushes, which added a delightful touch to the surroundings. A short drive away, the Linville Gorge and waterfall are spectacular sights, especially during the autumn season when I witnessed the magnificent change of colors in the trees.
Getting to Plumtree requires careful navigation, so do follow the directions provided by the campground to avoid unimproved roads. The location is conveniently close to Spruce Pine, where you can find a Walmart and other grocery stores within a 30-minute drive.
The sense of community and warmth at the campground is unmatched, thanks to Jimmy, the camp host. From the moment of arrival, expect a full welcome treatment. Jimmy is exceptional in guiding you to your site and making every day of your stay feel special.
In summary, if you're looking for a peaceful summer retreat with great neighbors, amazing hosts, and a connection with nature, Plumtree Campground is the place I'll be returning to.
