When we visited, the state had 1/2 of the UP's camp grounds closed, pushing everyone to the west side of the peninsula. When I tell you that not a single campground had space.... we almost went to a hotel. Then we found Catchin' Crickets camp ground and NO ONE was there. GOLD MINE!! Eventually some new comers filled out some spots as the weekend went on, but it was a FANTASTIC site.

I spoke with the owner as he filled up the fire wood supply, and I let him know how happy we were to find the site. He literally said "Yeah, we don't take reservations. We nearly never fill up past 50% capacity. We're just here for those who don't have a plan." And let me tell you, I'm the kinda person who just gets in the car and drives.

10/10 can confirm I will be back
