Campsite: Piney River Resort

This place is a gem! We stayed in our 45’ 5th wheel at the top of the hill for eight nights. Nice level pad with fire pit and string lights. Plenty of room in our back in. It is quiet. It is out there but totally perfect. Dog park was great. Only suggestion I would have for it is a bench or sitting area. They kept everything trimmed and cleaned up. Firewood and Ice at the office. They even delivered our firewood to our site. The nicest people running the camp and the friendliest neighbors. We are full timers and we’re impressed. My pup loved the river walks and the horses and goats next door. The cabins look beautiful and they have a tents for troops program as well. Provided directions for coming in and they were perfect. Keep it up Piney River. Can’t wait to see your expansion project including a pool.

Nearby we found Hideaway Farm once owned by Johnny Cash and Dillingers bar at the highway. Small grocery not too far away that had essentials but large stores are farther so come stocked if you don’t want to venture out. Perfect area to get out on the motorcycle even though the road is gravel toward to park. Franklin was a great day ride as well.

Thanks for having us!

Campsite: Bandera Pioneer RV River Resort

Great stop for the week. Friendly people. We have a 45’ toy hauler. Pretty tight spots. Glad my husband is a pro at driving us. Our slides weren’t far from our neighbors. Different set up than most. Rvs are alternated in each direction so you are back to back and front to front with your neighbors. Perfect if you are traveling with friends. A little different if you’re not. Not a bad thing. Just noteworthy if you are planning to have a more private yard. Dog park was fine. Like most in Tx sparse and mostly gravel. She liked it. We did ride the Three Twisted Sisters one of the days we were here. Recommend that and the Bent Rim along the way.

Campsite: Hilltop RV Park

Perfect for a stop along the way. Stayed one night. Dog park had actual grass! Cute little metalworks everywhere. Affordable. Spacious. Plenty of room for our 45’ toy hauler and truck. No unhooking necessary.

Campsite: Van Horn RV Park

Five stars because it was exactly what we needed and the ladies were so friendly. Dog park had so many stickers in it my dog said no when we went the second day. So we just walked around. Plenty of room for that. I get it’s west Texas. We missed breakfast both days but menu looked great and well priced. Diner also served dinner with a few hours closed between the two. This is an old Koa without much but a perfect stop for a day of rest off the highway. The sky was huge and the mountains beautiful. Makes you feel small and supports skywatching and daydreaming. Thanks for having us!

Water and electric worked fine.

Plenty of room in pull through for our 45’ toy hauler without unhooking.

Didn’t use sewer or any outbuildings.

Dog park had stickers all around but there weee two sections to separate any dogs needed.

Dumpsters handy
