Moccasin Creek State Park - Georgia's smallest state park. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this campground. When I pulled in I wasn’t so sure since it was so small and I knew it was fully booked. However, the camp hosts (site 53) set the stage. They were friendly and I really enjoyed chatting with them. The friendliness continued as I saw campers on my short walk to the lake. I love people who smile and give a little wave. 🙂 And…. It’s on the western shore of beautiful Lake Burton. There is even a trout-filled creek running along side of the campground. There were plenty of benches and swings along side the lake and I enjoyed using them for some stare therapy. This was a very relaxing stay. I would love to come back in cooler weather and hike Hemlock Falls Trail.

Most of the sites are very close together and would be great for a group of families camping together. My site was on the outer edge … only one campsite away from laundry facilities…Yay for me! I desperately needed to wash clothes.
