Campsite: The Oasis at Death Valley Fiddlers' Campground

Just went there the night before Christmas Eve. The hotel is beautiful, in their own words, a classic, antique structure, although modernized, and more in a western style, and of course, it's in the middle of the Valley.

And it happened that there was a huge power out that day, and the hotel was out of lights, elevators, heating, etc., for the whole day. This of course was out of their hands, but the response to the situation was well below decent.

The restaurant was closed and all they could offer us was a terrible Sandwich with ONE slice of turkey, a bag of chips and an orange (see picture) FOR $20 bucks!!! It was either that or go to bed hungry, or drive more than one hour to Pahrump, so we had to pay $20 for a $5 lunchbox. They didn't want to sell us a glass of wine because "it wasn't safe" with no lights. But people that brought their own got happily drunk.

We had reserved and paid for an additional bed but since there was no elevator, the person in charge didn't "feel safe" moving the fold-out bed one floor down. So three adults had to sleep in one King Size bed.

Long past are the times when things got done in the USA, now it's all "I'm not comfortable" and "I don't feel safe".
