Campsite: Kootenai National Forest Tobacco River Campground

Beautiful area, but seems to be a semi permanent dwelling for a few folks here.

The road is pretty rough going in and despite the beauty, the people around here have a "Hills Have Eyes" vibe, and seemed to have been staying a while.

Campsite: Hamma Hamma Campground

Beautiful and not too crowded if you don't mind miscellaneous trash bags and trash strewn about.

Campsite: Cow Lake

I felt in the air as I drove in through the country roads that evening (last Wednesday) and predicted in a text there was going to be an amazing sunset here because of the wildfires, but it ended up being a really clear evening, very peaceful with the cows mooing, the fish flopping on the water, assorted water birds squawking and flapping away, and later around midnight a pack of coyotes were yowling away and making an assortment of fascinating sounds.

With the complete lack of clouds in the cool blue sky it felt like being at the edge of the world, but with unseen cows comfortably mooing in the distance.

In the morning I awoke looking like Rocky Balboa, but I got the coolest pictures of the sunrise.

Unfortunately there was the usual broken glass and trash that now accompanies many public lands.
