We have never visited Trinity Alps and were very excited to find a RV park with full hookups for us to stay at. I spoke to Redbud on the phone and she described the place to me and it sounded fairly decent. I was not able to find any pictures of the actual RV part of the park for some reason (should have been a clue #1). The website and most pictures show the cabins, the pool and the nearby lake. Those are the nice parts of the park, especially the proximity to a mountain lake and having a pool to cool off in. However, the RV park itself is more or less a home to many permanent residents who live in mobile homes and older RV's with lots of tarps, junk, toys, barking dogs and make it look and feel very trashy. The narrow 1 lane dusty path to the park is set up for smaller motorhomes, not a 32 foot 5th wheel. I was told they had spots large enough for us, which thankfully worked out, but getting in and out was very tight and scary. From our campsite we had the view of a large garbage bin and the workers' shed with lots of junk around. Not the view one expects on their vacation. The constant dust and noise from the worker driving his ATV up and down the path was not good either. It's really sad that this place is like this, because the location is really lovely, but it is more or less a home for those who live in trailers and mobile homes with their belongings spread around their area.
The office is not staffed most of the day as other parks, so they have this clever system of using the walkie talkie to call a staff member. You can't just drop by the little store or play ping pong because everything is locked up. Someone is there in the middle of the day, but not on Sundays and there is no cell phone service so calling is not an option.
I can see that the cabins are wonderful for groups and families to stay in and enjoy the mountains, but unfortunately the RV park is probably the worst one we ever stayed at and we travel all the time. Needles to say, I will be more diligent with my research in the future and will not be coming back to Lakeview Terrace.
