I had a great experience at Cougar Rock. It's cheap, so don't expect a lot of frills. I managed to get a first-come-first-serve spot two nights in a row mid-week in August. Rangers were extremely kind and helpful. As a solo camper I felt safe and comfortable here.

I had a great experience at White River. It's a beautiful setting. I recommend B Loop as those sites provide more privacy and quiet. No frills camping. When I went, the entire campsite was operated via self-registration for first-come-first-serve.
