WOW! I can't believe this campground is free. I came on a Tuesday evening in August and there were plenty of sites left. You get plenty of privacy with the walk in sites and all of them looked to be great options. The sound of the river flowing at night was so peaceful! The food area can get a little crowded when there is a group but everyone was respectful and friendly. I almost didn't want to leave 5 stars just to keep it a secret how amazing this campground is :)

An off the beaten path campground in Capital Reef NP. First come first serve and free! We were there on a weekday in October and there was only one other group there at the time. The last few miles to the campground is on a dirt road but it is in really good shape! We loved staying here!
